ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY ~ JOURNEY

This is a new illustration created specifically for IF.  I enjoyed creating this one as much as I would enjoy the same kind of ride *:)

Fall Post card mailing... and PROVERB

I am combining my work over the past two days with the Illustration Friday theme:  Proverb. This is a wise one that I hope to follow:

"Every Picture Tells A Story"

For the front of my fall postcard I decided to create a boy a little bit older than the one in my painting for the NY Public library exhibit.  On the back, instead of How to Ride a Dragon 101,  I substituted a useful handbook,  Dragons for Dummies.   I'm sure it will come in handy.

And for anyone who wants to wallow in proverbs, here is a handy link.

IF-FLYING through the Autumn Leaves

Autumn leaves are brilliant waves of red and gold and brown.
I ride them on a gentle breeze from town to town to town.

I posted this a bit early but it fits the theme so well I wanted to offer this for Illustration Friday. It is a rework of an older Black and White image with the addition of a short poem.

More in the Skater Series

Another image of skating. Earlier image can be viewed below.
What I want to do is combine these two and maybe another into one larger piece.

HAPPY EASTER

There is a little backstory to this one. About 5 1/2 years ago I worked 9 to 5 in an office. My job included a lot of time on HOLD with providers, and while I was on hold I would begin a doodle of sorts. Some of these were large and created on my deskpad and took several weeks to become anything, but this is one that finally got colored in little by little with my pen and highlight markers that I used at work.

As the weeks passed each of the doodles I drew became more complex until they became a finished picture. I used them as calendar art and I think I did one almost every month. I saved a lot of these and they may show up now and then...either in their original form or something more refined.

Several years later after moving north to NH I unpacked the drawings and doodles from those "HOLD" times and this is one that I recreated as a painting in Painter IX.

The border of colored eggs at the top is an image hose I created of delft china eggs.

ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY ~ SEED

In these apples are the SEEDS of promise. Promise for new growth, and more apples to come. This little guy has his first day at school all planned out. If he has enough apples to go around, he is sure to be a winner with his new teachers.
And it is sure to win points with the bus driver..as he needs to bring the dog along too.
