Fair Practices for Illustrators ~ some Guidelines

Because there has been a bit of discussion lately on the fair practices concerning illustrators, I decided to create my own set of guidelines. These apply to me but may be of interest or some help to others in the field. It could be especially useful to those just beginning a career as an illustrator of children's books.

You can read my thoughts here. An Illustrator's Guidelines

I started this on Friday morning and finished sometime Sunday afternoon, just before the T-storms hit. I wanted to get it posted, but will be working on more refining and more texture during the coming week.

IF ~ II More than Enough

Ever try to find a picture book you know you have, but can't quite locate it? That would be a good reason for spending a week cataloging them and putting them in order. I work a little differently, ( heh heh) so I had to spend a morning searching for just ONE book I knew I had. In the process I ended up cleaning out a whole lot of STUFF.... and went through batches and batches of sketches from previous assignments, books I have illustrated and just those late night sketching sessions. What I ended up doing, after culling out those I didn't need or want, was to photograph some of the B&W ones for later use and to use on my website. This one in particular seems to fit the subject this week....ENOUGH. I am posting it as a second entry. I have actually painted this one once, but really like the effect that a Black and White sketch has for this particular subject.

What Jerome didn't know...

Just why the lovely crown was occasionally found floating in the river was not exactly a secret. Princess Lentil had a passion for all things outdoors.

An Award.... how nice!

How nice! The wise and talented Monica has given me this award!

I am honored and quite delighted and am posting it here with the "rules."

The rules of accepting are as follows:
1) Put the logo on your blog
2) Add a link to the person(s) who awarded you.
3) Nominate at least 7 other blogs.
4) Add links to those blogs on yours.
5) Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs.

My choices are so many! But for this time I will narrow it down and hope that if you have already received this award you won't mind being the recipient once again. And if you're too busy, don't feel pressured to pass it along. I enjoy your work and visit all your sites quite often.

Here are my choices for this award:

If you want to see more of their work and why I admire each of them so much , just click on their name and spend some time visiting these sensational artists.

Trying to simplify my style...sometimes

Sometimes I try to concentrate on something new...and sometimes just concentrate on simplifying things.
