And so it goes

The snow it snows and snows and snows, the wind it blows and blows and blows, and so does my nose...

From current dummy...

The "Twins" discover snow.

I won't be finishing any other items from the dummy before I send it out. I have two finishes and the cover plus the inside sketches. That is normally enough.  The text is also added inside the dummy. There is space below the cubs on this page for the two or three sentences for this page.  The ms goes with the dummy book, a resume, and a cover sheet.  If the publisher states that they do answer queries or submissions I enclose a business size envelope, stamped and addressed to me.  If not, I have to be aware that they may not answer and simply recycle the whole submission.  That is the best reason for only finishing one or two illustrations, and sending only copies of the work.

Up a Tree......

Dummy in progress, I am enjoying watching these two cubs find fun, adventure and challenges.
I face challenges too.  Submitting dummy books with manuscripts is limited when one is not represented by an agent. However there are options for illustrators who write and I intend to investigate those.

A world of White..

The snow that began yesterday evening is still accumulating. As beautiful as it is, I dread losing power. It has happened several times today and our daughter in VT has been without it all day. These images only can show so much of the truly awesome sight outdoors.

SNOW ~ the SnowTesters

Since there are so many kinds of snow it is always great to have someone on hand for quality control.

The first snow....

Our first snow began this morning and although it is mostly just a prolonged flurry it came before the leaves had all changed or fallen. Up here in the northeast we have a bush called the Burning Bush. This morning it cooled off a bit with a dusting of fresh snow.

ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY ~ MULTIPLE

Multiple snow storms did not phase Mrs. Rosario. It wasn't shopping for multiple items at the grocery store. It wasn't even having to feed multiple mouths. The thing that required her to engage the services of a Nanny was getting all six children dressed to go out before any one of them began undressing again.

ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY ~ PLAIN

This is an actual tree down the hill from where we live. The tiny bird's nest has a dome of snow on top and it just made me think how frustrated a bird would be if he/she were trying to build a nest and had to face an early spring surprise.

Some days it is just PLAIN that things are going to get a bit complicated.

Icy- Snowy- Cold- and- Frigid

Just saying the words makes it seem colder than it is. Today was the coldest March Day on record in NH EVER.....

The wind was wild, the air was icy. Up on top of Mt. Washington the Wind Chill Factor was below..yes .... BELOW -60. I think at one point today it reached a wind chill factor of -79. One of the climatoligists who mans the weather station up there boiled up a pot of water and took it outside the station and threw the water into the air..INSTANTLY it turned into a cloud of snow.
But don't try this at home, you would most likely burn yourself if your wind chill isn't at least -50 degrees.

Heres to sweeping away the winter and welcoming a blooming spring!

    SNOW CONE

One of the things we love about New Hampshire is the change in seasons...sometimes that can be from minute to minute. Right now we have snow with more on the way. In fact the snow in the front of the house has been so deep I can't get to the bird feeders, so I put some kindling wood covered with peanut butter and birdseed sticking up out of the snow. This morning an industrious squirrel made his way over under and through the snow to grab a nice treat.
