Lately I have been experimenting with various forms of scratchboard type paintings in Painter. I haven't quite got the hang of it yet, but it is a lot of fun to see what can happen. Using various brushes and techniques I am slowly learning what works and what does not.

I don't know Ginger, looks like you've got a pretty good handle on this technique to me, lovely work! I especially love the whale piece, it has such an ethereal calm quality to it, and is fun at the same time. Love your owl and mouse, we both have owls this week! Enjoy your day, Susan
Ginger- I think this is one of those "Ahh Ha" moments- your stuff is lovely in scratcboard- I confess I have always loved the look of that dark dark contrast-folk art look- I think your stuff would be great in woodprint!!!! toss the computer and get a block of wood!! Seriously- you need to explore this further.

Thanks for the push to try this again. I will explore it from time to time.. actually, Julia, I used to save all my woodcuts and then about 5 years ago when we moved, they disappeared. I will investigate the process again at some point.

Well it's a great path to head down. I think it adds another dimension to your work, also adds vigor and dynamics -not that your work didn't already have it!

I love the whale -beautiful, mysterious and quite fantastical. I like your work in scratch board. give it a lovely vibrancy.
