This summer I painted a number of oversized posters for the children's summer theater camp in our town. This is a study for one of the posters. If I was still doing silk screening this would be a perfect piece for that medium.
Wow! This is so cool Ginger! I would have loved a poster like this in my room as a kid. Just my style! Sop vibrant! Hey congrats on the Flying Poodles! looks like a delightful book. What a great concept!Your illos look amazing as usual. Thanks for stopping by and for the get well wishes. God bless.
I just checked out Gunther. He looks spectacular! You keep getting better and better. Wow! You have a lot of books! Great :o) Good luck with Gunther. It’s got to be exciting writing and illustrating. You know exactly what you want ;o)
Thank you for the kind comments. I have to say this style is not what I would normally do. It is a far cry from my usual painterly style. I needed to work quickly so I used the line art as a base and simply filled in the color. For the posters, which were quite large, I sketched, painted and then did my huge letters on the computer and pasted them on to the posters and painted in around them.
Sorry been away - actually your screen printing comment jogs my memory. I think I would like to learn it. I can see how suited this style would be, so clean and precise. There is a lot going for it as far as a minimalist approach. And suits the prompt down to the ground! (Well I would be climbing a tree actually!) see you :)
